Over the moon again

A dream-like piece I did for one of my classes last semester. It was a hell of a lot of fun to paint. I got to experiment with mixing different mediums together; I've learned that gouache, watercolor, and inks go together like baking cupcakes.

My original concept was gonna be a sequence sort-of thing, but my professor wasn't really into it.

And so forth, the one piece was created! Blessings to the beautiful universe.

We Are the 99%!

Completed for my mentor project last semester. My mentor, Kat Hudson (http://katillustrations.com/) gave me an assignment where I had to illustrate an event flyer. I chose to do Occupy Wall Street, as it's something I'm in full support of and strongly believe in.

The individual people represent the 99%, and the demon spewing money represents the 1%. This was made as a collage using watercolor, and numerous hours of cutting out each individual person.
I had to edit some things in photoshop. For example, a strand of my hair got stuck under all that glue which was impossible to take out. But other than photoshopping my hair out and some color-fixing, it's all done traditionally.

P.S. It's 2012 now! How 'bout that? I hope everyone has been having their own fun shenanigans, and chaotic silly adventures in the first beginning days of the new year!

first painting

of the new year. How lame is it that I'm awake really early with no hangover and not feeling like a hot mess?

I haven't touched my watercolors in a while, and I just found a very strong re-newed love for them again. Made this on a whim after re-watching The Red Balloon which brought back happy childhood memories!

Children's book

This is why I will never get a job writing children's books.

Originally, this was for typography where we were told to write and illustrate a short story. While this project is about...three weeks late, I wanted to make it my own as it's the only project in this class that I actually wanted to put effort in. Type is not really my...forte.

Until next time, ciao!

Watercolors...

It's been a while. Should I get the death penalty?

Her ears are crooked. It's really bothering me.

The entire class had to sit down for three hours and paint fruit (and some lone garlic cloves). After three hours I
still did not finish. I fail.

From very very very early of this semester. We had to paint from a black and white picture upside down in blue watercolor paint (this color actually makes me cringe). She's kind of creepy looking, no?

This is me trying to be experimental, but failed miserably.

So...next time will either be life drawings, or a 4 paged story. Or maybe another month of not posting. We shall see.
